Well, here I am sitting in the Grande Hotel de Como in Italy, without anything clean to wear - my luggage lost or misplaced!
I am here to learn more about cheese making from the kind folks at Sacco-Clerici. Well, I hope my luggage is found tonight or that the Italians appreciate my little traveling overall that I have on
Everybody here seem so sophisticated, so I do not know what image this will portray, but hey, shit happens - especially when you work with cows, hey! Well, think of the Milkman tomorrow, and hope that his luggage pitches or that he at least does a decent job on washinh his clothes.
Elaine, my dear wife, I am missing you so much - I will show you this post when I get back!
Cheers, and drink your milk!

Today I also visited Chaneé Truter, cheesemaker at Imhoff Cheesery in Kommetjie, since 2003. Chaneé is charming and I can see that she enjoys handcrafting the almost 20 types of cheeses they make. The cheese shop is housed in the old farm grain silo, beautifully renovated as you can see on the pic.
I also visited the cheese factory and enjoyed the innovatively practical way of doing things.
Her Camembert cheese especially comes highly acclaimed.

Hi, Cheese Fans
Today I visited a very interesting cheese entrepreneur in the centre of Cape Town, at 95 Hout Street, from where he has cheese and wine functions and also shortly plans to do corporate team-building with cheese making as topic!!
I could see that Didier has a real pasion for cheese and I enjoyed the 2 and 1/2 year old cheddar, thanks Didier!
Didier’s venue is called “La Forge”, because it housed up till 2000 the last Blacksmith in Cape Town - truly a remarkable venue.
Didier is a qualified and registered tour leader and 95% of his tours consist of foreigners, so he does South Africa proud!
Cheers,

Hi, Milk Fans
Yes, I’m still here - sorry for being so quiet - my interest in the dairy industry has for a long time shifted to hobby-status. There is a big chance of this changing shortly - keep posted to see where I pop up next in the South African Dairy Industry!
Remember to drink your milk and to eat your cheese!
Cheers,

Say hello to team BioVolt, a group of MIT students who applied the concept of biomass or using animal manure to charge mobile phones. This is ideal for rural areas with scarce electricity.

However, the system is far from perfect. It would take at least 6 months to completely charge a mobile phone battery! If there’s any consolation, you just need to shell out $2.
I guess the bigger problem is, who will be interested to collect cow dung, wait for 6 months, and put the phone on their ears if they know it’s full of sh*t?
