Low-fat dairy helps blood pressure

A new study suggests that milk and other dairy products, especially low-fat varieties, can help reduce blood pressure. Those who ate the most dairy cut the risk of high-blood pressure by 54 percent, according to the research published in the journal Hypertension.

Three years ago Lebanon’s biggest dairy farm, LibanLait, was confronting two seemingly unrelated problems: the rising cost of generating enough power to operate the dairy plant, and how to dispose of the approximately 160,000 pounds of cow manure that accumulated daily.

Dairy farmers, churches partner to fight hunger

Five dairy farms in Cayuga County (Aurora Ridge Dairy, Willet Dairy, Sunnyside Farm, Scipio Springs Dairy and Oakwood Farms) and three Ithaca area churches created a local partnership, dubbed â€œAdopt a Cow,â€ to raise funds to rebuild cattle herds in Mozambique.
